After a year-long hiatus, I found myself back in the vibrant city of Singapore, this time for a week of work-related meetings, training, and workshops. While today happened to be a public holiday, I decided to drive down to Singapore rather than catching a flight (oops, forgot to book it!).
Whenever I’m in Singapore, I usually stay at either the Parkroyal Hotel or Pan Pacific, both part of the UOL Group and conveniently related to the family that owns my company. I’ve frequented these hotels enough to reach the top tier of their loyalty program. Though it would be great if they were SPG or similar, I’m grateful for the familiar comforts they offer.
Luck seemed to be on my side as I often get upgraded (two levels up) upon arrival, subject to availability. This time, I lucked out and received a suite at Pan Pacific—a spacious room with a large bathtub and a separate toilet. But honestly, as long as I have a cozy bed to sleep in, I’m content.
In the past, I spent a considerable amount of time in Singapore, usually three days a week. It was exhausting but rewarding, as I built valuable connections with colleagues from the “mothership” company. Being part of a subsidiary, building a network across the entire group has its perks, providing insights and strengthening professional relationships.
Returning to Singapore, even for work, always brings a sense of familiarity and excitement. Settling into my suite at Pan Pacific, I reflect on the journey so far. While my focus is primarily on work, I appreciate the chance to explore this vibrant city and reconnect with colleagues from the “mothership.” Singapore’s energetic atmosphere, stunning skyline, and diverse culture always leave a lasting impression. Until next time, Singapore!
