One thing that I am amazed by the number of people worked on a boat. In this workshop – supposedly owned by Pak Awi, I only see one person working on the ship while another helping out. As I was talking to the person, he mentioned that there are not many boat makers around.
As you can see from the photo above, that person was lifting the wood by himself. These are cengal, so they are heavy and hard! I cannot imagine working on such limited resources!
One thing that I also observed is that the community does come over now and then. The community are indeed very friendly. When they arrived at the workshop, they will come and say hi to me and shake my hand. This is despite me being a stranger!
