As we moved into our 51st birthday – I would like to make a series of my opinion/interpretation of the Federal Constitution. My basis of the constitution is of the following document. Feel free to download. Appreciate any comments. Warning – I am not a constitution expert, I am not a lawyer.

Here is   Part 1 – 1 THE STATES, RELIGION AND LAW OF THE FEDERATION (Name, States and territories of the Federation)

The actual constitution is as follows:

My interpretation are as follows:

  • Federation refers to our country – Malaysia.
  • The country name – in any language whether chinese, malay, japanese, indonesian, thai or what ever – will be Malaysia. How you pronounce it is not governed, thus whether you say Me-lei-she or Me-lei-seeya or Ma-lei-sha is really up to you.
  • The following are the states of the Federation:
    • Johor
    • Kedah
    • Kelantan
    • Melaka
    • Negeri Sembilan
    • Pahang
    • Penang
    • Perak
    • Perlis
    • Sabah
    • Sarawak
    • Selangor
    • Terengganu
  • Follow are Federal Territories which are the territories of the Federation:
    • Kuala Lumpur
    • Labuan

I guess the constitution is pretty clear on what is the Federation. No two things about it!
