This is what I would do when I plan my route. No warranty or support! If it works it works….. But feel free to drop me a comment if you have any questions. I’ll try to answer it…
So let’s start now…
First and foremost – do your routing on your Google Maps.
OK – straight away head over to www.gpsvisualizer.com
Notice on the left hand side – there a whole bunch of options…
Since Garmin accepts GPX file, what we do is to click on “Convert to GPX” – where you get down to this page…
What interest us is to provide the URL. Just copy paste the google maps URL and paste to this field…
Don’t ask me what are the other options. As far as I know, the default option works! So just press the Convert button…
After you press the convert button, you will get this page…
So at this page, right click the following link and save the GPS.
I usually give a proper name so I can differentiate the routes!
So now.. open up Garmin Basecamp
What we need is to click on the menu to import the GPX.
Choose the file that you save just now.
So now.. you can see the route has been imported to Garmin Basecamp.
Next – what we need is to join the tracks – if it’s separated like shown here…
Once you choose join tracks… You will notice that Basecamp will ask you to set the order. The list is in the right order…
So just press OK!
Now we see just the one track..
What i always do is to double click the route and double check…
Renaming the name of the route is quite useful, cause it’ll go to your GPS. Connect your GPS and drag the new GPX over to the Zumo 660 as per the video down here.
When you press Go – …
Usually I don’t navigate to the start, just join the route.. if I want to.
Hopefully this is useful…
