French Government together with music/film rights owners and internet service providers are drafting a pact to take action against illegal downloaders. Under this new pact – ISP’s will first issue warnings to the users. If they disobey, their account will suspended and closed together.
President Nicolas Sarkozy said that:
We run the risk of witnessing a genuine destruction of culture.
He added that the Internet must not become a high-tech Wild West, “a lawless zone where outlaws can pillage works with abandon or, worse, trade in them in total impunity. And on whose backs? On artists’ backs.”
