This is Part 2 of my previous post on Observations. It’s fascinating to witness the cultural nuances in different countries. For instance, public displays of affection, like couples kissing on the train or by the street, are common in some places. However, in Japan, a different scene unfolds. Many people, worn out from long workdays, often sleep on public transport—an everyday sight that reflects their tireless dedication.
Personally, I could never manage to do this. I’m such a deep sleeper that if I were to nod off on a train, I’d likely miss my stop entirely (not that it hasn’t happened before!).
In the photo, a girl wakes up as the train arrives at her station. She doesn’t look disoriented; she simply stands up and walks off as if waking up and transitioning seamlessly into her day is routine.
I imagine if I were to do an early morning photo shoot, I’d see this scene play out time and again: commuters waking up, collecting themselves, and heading straight to work without missing a beat.
